about everyday così
Everyday Così was born out of burnout.
I’m a mom of two tween boys, a floral-loving maximalist, and a bit of a high-maintenance Taurus (is there any other kind?) who loves a beautiful home.
But the pandemic kicked my ass and fogged my brain.
Both of our children have conditions that made us extra careful and we essentially isolated for the better part of two years. Right as they returned to a classroom (666 days after switching to remote learning), my father-in-law passed away, and six months later we moved into my husband’s childhood home, selling our home of 16+ years.
Helping our children navigate school “re-entry” after lockdown, wading through grief from an unexpected loss, and processing a major move with many complexities — on top of regular work, wife, mom, daughter, friend life — was so hard.
I’ve always loved being a wife and mother and making our home warm, inviting, and as beautiful as possible. But between 2020 and 2022, I lost my spark.
In 2023, I started to come up for air. I knew I wanted to find a way to savor the current season of motherhood and family, and enjoy our new home, but the To Dos and decision fatigue were stealing my joy.
Our house was too chaotic for me, cooking stopped being fun, and all the self-care systems I had made for myself were being neglected. I was holding it all together… barely.
Then came the multiple ADHD diagnoses in our family and a lightbulb clicked on. I started rethinking everything.
What if we could build systems around the way our brains actually work? What if our home could be a source of calm and celebration all the time, not just after a marathon cleaning session?
What if I could use all of my knowledge about how and what our family eats to make a system that works for me, without adding work to my plate?
What if I could slowly get back to my foundational self-care and start prioritizing my joy again?
Slowly, I created simple, repeatable rhythms that helped us stay on top of the basics — while still leaving room for a little everyday whimsy.
The result? Dopamine hits and a family that works together to create the home life we want and cherish.
Now, our home is far from perfect. There are still messy days and some cereal dinners. I don’t always feel grounded. But most days, it’s clean enough. The meals are planned and enjoyed. And we have time for a pot of tea with cookies and candles — just because.
And I feel like an entire self who has brain space and actual time for my own interests.
That’s what Everyday Così is all about: Life made a bit more manageable, meaningful, and maybe even a little magical.
I want that for me, you, and all of us.
So, welcome to my così corner of the internet. I’m so glad you found me. Let’s make life a bit lighter, together.
Hi! I’m Kate Holt, this is a goofy selfie I took on my birthday this year, and Everyday Così is my brainchild, I’m glad you’re here.
